The regulations allow for a check to be conducted before and/or after it has expired and taking it to be completed on the due date.
Currently the target count does not factor in the grace or renewal window when calculating its restrictions... e.g. 2 checks in 12 months at 6 month intervals - but can be conducted 30 days either side.
